Syncing laptop with desktop very easily

Article Type:
Tip

This is what I did and why I did it.  I have a desktop computer and a laptop.  I prefer to use my desktop while I am at home, and my laptop while away.  While sitting in a coffee shop I would download email to thunderbird and I would be browsing the internet and bookmarking sites, and I may even download music files or jpgs.  When I got home I would want to access those emails, bookmarks, and files on my desktop. Or sometimes it would be the other way around.
I found an easy way to"sync" my laptop to my desktop much in the same way that you would sync your iPod to your iTunes library. (yes I still run my mac for the purpose of dowloading podcasts and listening to audible audio books and syncing them to my 30 gb iPod)
I followed the following tutorial and it worked perfectly.

It will scan both computers and see where the files differ in the specific directories that you set up to syncronize.
It will give you the option to: overwrite laptop to desktop, desktop to laptop, or merge files together.
Unison is a beautiful program!
Cheers
David

Awesome Tip David thanks for it! I've used Conduit a little bit, but this looks way better!
