Suggestions
Hi Chad,
I think your podcast is very interesting. I would like to make some suggestions from my personal experience with your podcast.
Please don't take these recommendations personally, they're just suggestions based on my experience with your podcast. I would have e-mailed you, but couldn't find an e-mail address for Linux Basement.
I recommend that you use your regular voice all the time. Many times, I feel that you try to make funny voices or over-stress words. For example, between minutes 4:00 and 5:00 of your Episode 22, you make funny voices and say "HERE WE GO! YEAH!", and it sounds like you're trying too hard to make your podcast fun/interesting. "HOOPLAH! About Mark Shuttleworth" at 6:00 in Episode 22 sounds like you're trying too hard to stress the words. Trust me, we're listening already.
I suggest that the songs you play in your segways are too mellow, and conflict with your voice tone and excitement. You play a mellow accoustic guitar song, and then flip out with your excitement and over-stressing of terms and funny voices.
Both your Linux Basement podcast and the Fresh Ubuntu podcast seem to break awkwardly just to play a song, then start talking again. I don't know what to suggest, except to listen to Linux Reality archives and the Linux Action Show, to see what kind of music they play during their segways.
I recommend that you don't over-apologize for "only" having a podcast after 3 weeks. Your Episode 23 started off with you apologizing several times, then promising to beef it up with more podcasts. Apologize once, and who cares about the explanation -- you were busy.
In short, just use your regular voice -- it's okay to get excited, but no muppet voices!
I liked your review of the video games in Episode 22 at 12:00. You had good excitement in your voice, and it sounded natural, like you're talking to me in person. From 12:00 forward on Episode 22 during the meat of your review, I enjoyed listening. Keep that voice and demeanor.
Good show, and keep up the good work!

Nate, Thank you for the
Nate,
Thank you for the recommendations. My email is located up in the "files and info" section of the site. While you may think I'm doing some weird voice for the podcast, I assure this is just how I am, and I've been diong the same thing since the first season of Linux Basement. I'm sure it annoys others, but it is who I am and how I do it, so I wont be changing it. I do appreciate the feedback though.
As for the music, I've used the same segway music, at the same time to transitions to different segments since day 1 of the podcast. I do all the music myself, and while I have thought about changing the songs up slightly, it will still be mellow acoustic, because that is what I do.
Its funny because others have commented about my "radio voice" but that is just what I do when I present. You can listen to other podcasts that I've been on, and find it is that way also.
If I were to change this, i would have to constantly think about how I sounded, which would then be forcing myself to do something that doesn't come natural. So I think I'm just going to continue to not think about it, because like you said, the show is about the content, not about my voice. I strive to put out good, unique content with every episode.
I've always been over-apologetic about my schedule, and you're right, I shouldn't apologize so much.
Thanks for listening, your feedback is always welcome here, or at chad@linuxbasement.com

Chad,
Ironically, I heard you mention your e-mail address as soon as I posted my suggestions.
I didn't know that you used your own music on your podcast. Congratulations on the recording quality, and it's good accoustic guitar. I play guitar too, and appreciate how difficult it is to compose/record music.
Thanks for considering my suggestions and keep up the good work.
