OGG files don't work for me :(

I can listen to the MP3 files with no issues, but when I try and play the OGG files on my Nokia 770 it crashes either the OGG player or the Nokia 770.
Any ideas anyone?
Chris

Hmm I'm not sure tux. Is it

Hmm I'm not sure tux. Is it just my podcast giving you problems or all Ogg files?

Sorry to be the bearer of

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it's just the Linux Basement podcasts. Lug Radio, TLLTS and others all work fine.  I will try them on my PC tonight to see what happens as that is running Debian the same as my Nokia.

On a positive note, keep up the Drupal tutorials. I'm currently designing a website for a mate using Drupal and having big issues getting it to work as he wants!

Hmm, that is very strange. I

Hmm, that is very strange. I rip down to Ogg straight from audacity. I have no idea why it wouldn't work. They play on Mplayer and the like. This will bother me till we figure it out. hmmmmmm

I know the 770 only plays

I know the 770 only plays Ogg/Vorbis files and not any other Ogg format. I've tried a few others but it just has a hissy fit and dies so it may be that.  I finidh work in 5 minutes (it's almost 17:15 here in Wales) so will have a play when I get home!

Will keep you posted with any news :)

Take care

Chris

A couple ideas:

A couple ideas:

Lug ogg has a bitrate of 80 kbs. Linux basement is 96 kbs. You could try resampling in Audacity and see if your Nokia likes it better.
LB has an embedded comment. "Because Linux is cool."

Could that be hosing the player? Just wondering out loud.

Best,
Tom

Ogg Feed

I'm not even getting as far as obtaining the ogg versions to try them. I can't get the feed to work in  Podcast Ready. I've just picked up a Cowon D2 and can listen to ogg files on the go now - except this one.

The feed over at

The feed over at podcastready.com is the mp3 feed. The ogg feed only works directly from my site at
http://www.linuxbasement.com/ogg/feed
Have you tried that? I am not able to replicate the errors people are getting. The ogg downloads and loads on my machine without an issue.

When I try to use the ogg

When I try to use the ogg feed, I get the following error from PodcastReady:

An error occurred while adding the Podcast.
This channel/feed does not have any episodes.

The MP3 version is what I have been using without any problems.

Peter

The feed appears to be

The feed appears to be working in iTunes -- just the 3 most recent podcasts -- so it could be related to PodcastReady only.

I'm DLing an ogg version of the latest podcast to try.

Cool, let me know how it

Cool, let me know how it goes. Keep in mind the feed in itunes is also mp3. The feed here off the site is the only ogg feed.

Ogg Feed

I manually add the ogg feed to the various aggregators. iTunes DLs and plays the most recent podcast in ogg format just fine. It also worked in WMP and Winamp - for me. Then again, my main computer is XP-based, not Linux. My old PII233MMX Linux test system is not really up to playing podcasts while acting as a web server, etc. The other ogg feeds I added to PodcastReady work ok.

Cool thanks for the update

Cool thanks for the update Peter. Anyone else having any problems?

PodcastReady

The trouble I was having with PodcastReady was on the website. I had no trouble adding the ogg feed to MyPodder. It is still not showing up properly (no episodes or title) in my online listing of PR podcasts, but under MP you wouldn't know there was a problem. Strange!.

Very strange. Glad it worked

Very strange. Glad it worked out though! Thanks for letting me know!

They seem to play on my 770

They seem to play on my 770 now
Will try the older ones to see if they work now :)

The crazy thing is, i didn't

The crazy thing is, i didn't do anything different. i wonder what happened! The mystery of the corrupted ogg files continues!
