Hello from Tokyo

Greetings all.

I've been enjoying the podcast for some time now. Keep up the great work Chad.

I've been using Linux exclusively for a number of years. I started with Mandrake 9.2. Before that Win98.
The more I learn the more I understand how little I really know about linux. I'm sure learning heaps listening to this podcast. Loving the 2nd season security theme.
The thing I love most about linux is the freedom to experiment / try things out. That and the limitless flexibility.
I don't program and I'm not a sys admin although I'd like to become one. I just enjoy learning and tinkering.

Currently I have a ShuttleX cube with dual displays running Kubuntu. A Via C3 server & an iMac G3 running Debian. And a very old but cool little Thinkpad s30 running a pared down Ubuntu. http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Category:S30
If you have never tried dual displays you don't know what your missing. They rock!

Being in Tokyo my time zone is different from yours but I look forward to meeting people in the irc.

Cheers,

Spot101

Welcome Spot!

Nice to have you with us my friend! I have been thinking about getting linux up on a powerPC box, glad to hear you have that working.

PowerPCs and Linux

The install with Debian was easy. However the architecture has some limitations that i386 users don't.
You won't be able to run Flash Player or Wine. Gnash may substitue for Flash Player but there are some limitations.
And even if you have the horse power virtual machines may be out of the question.
Other than these short comings it runs it well.
