Hello from the Deep South of the USA

Greetings and Salivations from the home of the Crimson Tide,
My name is Michael and I am a new-to-novice linux user. I currently have a MacBook Pro, a home built desktop system and a ThinkPad T43 (for work). The desktop is down with motherboard and power supply issues (see http://tinyurl.com/2eld7e and http://tinyurl.com/2686sl).

My distro of choice is Ubuntu. I have been using linux off and on for the last 10 years (a lot of RH when it was free, some Fedora, then to Ubuntu). I am the IT Manager for a small municipality in central Alabama, and I am trying to focus my career toward the Information Security aspect. I have a SANS GSEC certification as a Security Essentials professional.

As I type, I am configuring my (work) ThinkPad to full Ubuntu Gutsy, and I will run VirtualBox with the Windows XP that I need at work. I just found LB and listened to Episode 11 (Season 2)!!

I will probably be in the IRC channel a lot under the names of michaelramm or michael_mac, I am also on twitter (michaelramm) and you can IM me at michaelramm@gmail.com (Gtalk or Jabber).

Look forward to meeting folks in IRC, and learning a lot more about Linux.

Michael Ramm, GSEC
