Episode 11 - Out with the Old and In with the New
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.
And so we say good-bye (at least for now) to Drupal.
And of course the writing was on the wall. If you don't believe me, scroll up to the top of the page and look - it says 'Linux' Basement - write there on the wall , not 'Drupal' basement. :-)
Alas, I have to confess, I will miss the discussions of Drupal, after just getting hooked on it, we are left hanging by a Chad (I couldn't resist).
But we are not to despair! Chad has promised that Drupal will be revisited on the podcast in the future.
Here is one request: I have asked in IRC and will now ask again for the benefit of those that only visit the forums - Can you give us a roadmap to follow on our own? Now that you have shown us how to drive the vehicle, perhaps some directions on where we can take this baby, and find out just how sleek and swift she can be? Some links to other sites perhaps? Many thanks in advance.
And now on to the new: Pete!
It was a treat to see (hear) the new feature in the podcast. Pete was very easy to understand and follow along with. Concise and to the point. Thanks. However, a confession - I must admit that as I heard the sound of the news-feeds rolling in the background, my mind took me back to the days of Less Nessman Action Reporter!. I could not help but think of you as WKRPete in Linux Basement! Thanks for the show and keep up the good work!
In conclusion: Episode 11 - - - It just made me want to hear the next one.

A Treat! Me?
Well, I'm very glad you liked my segment. I wanted something brief so as not to take any time away from Chad, but still keep the people who only listen to a few podcasts, or don't closely follow open source news, informed as to the latest happenings. I hope it will improve over time. There was a lot to learn and get setup just for two minutes. I might have to change that teletype sound effect. Perhaps I could read the news as if in a helicopter. Hmm......
This is (sing this bit to yourself) WKR-Pete in Linux Basement - signing off and wondering where he misplaced that Silver Sow Award.

I agree that Pete is doing a great job! I think we all give him a thank you for his contributions to the show and site.
Hip Hip Hooray!
Chad
WKR-Pete is a keeper
Nicely done, Pete - oh yeah, and you too Chad.
I thought Pete's concise reporting of the week's Linux highlights was just right, unlike some other Linux Podcasts that spend the whole episode reporting the news then call it a day.
The Nessus tutorial was cool. I always thought Nessus was an expensive commercial ap and didn't know they had a free version. Very nice.
"Oh my god! They're dropping Vista from a helecopter at the mall."
Chris
Vista
As God as my witness I thought Vista could fly.
nessus is neat!
i installed nessus and downloaded the plugins. I ran it on my local machine and servers. I did not find any glaring security holes but it did chide me about some things I had set up. Just reading the report was a real education. That prompted me to tighten things down a bit more. Thanx for getting more into security, At least for me I have already benefited from the podcasts!
My pleasure man. So glad
My pleasure man. So glad people are getting stuff outof it. Nessus is great!
