Cool Gmail Trick Pt. 1

Article Type:
Tutorial

Ok, this isn't really a Linux tip, but it is cool. Since it seemed to get too long, I have decided to break this down into two tutorials. In the first part I will show how to set up Gmail to retrieve message from your POP mail accounts. In part 2, I will show you how to coufigure an email client such as Thunderbird for an IMAP server.

To let Gmail get mail off your POP server do the following:
1. Log onto your Gmail account. If you don't have one you will need to sign up.
2. Click on "Settings" in the upper right hand corner.
3. Click "Accounts" on the menu of the Gmail page.
4 Click "Add another email address" int the "Get mail from other accounts" section of the page.
5. This will open a pop window. Enter the requested information the click "Add Account." Add any additional accounts you wish. Gmail will now periodically check the accounts you've added. This may not work with some free email accounts such as Yahoo Mail.

I will post part 2 when I can. This is going to be a busy week. If this is unclear go here. http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=21289
